NJ Coalition for Vaccination Choice update and preparing for our final call-in for October.

Here's an update from the New Jersey Coalition for Vaccination Choice:

Next Tues. is our final call-in for October ( http://njvaccinationchoice.blogspot.com/2009/10/join-our-vaccine-choice-call-in.html ), so please plan to call.  Assemblyman Conaway who is personally holding up A260 in his committee, want e-mails, so lets send him a bunch.  asmconaway@njleg.org  There are some events planned in his district for next week, so if you in Dist. 7 or nearby and would like to participate, please check our event calendar at http://njvaccinationchoice.org/calendar.html Dist. 7 inculdes: Beverly, Burlington, Burlington Township, Cinnaminson, Delanco, Delran, Edgewater Park, Florence, Maple Shade, Merchantville, Mount Holly, Palmyra, Pennsauken, Riverside, Riverton, Westampton, Willingboro (Camden and Burlington Counties)

Here is an update from one of the leaders of the Coalition:

"I called yesterday around 3pm.

Vitale's office was taking down my name & town, before I even said the bill number. At the end, I asked if he knew what bill I was calling in reference to, and he said, "the Vaccination bill, right?" Yup, that's the one! ; )

Calling my own local legislators was good, too, because I got to ask them where the two non-sponsors each stood on our bill. If it came to the floor for a vote, how would they vote? FYI, the Coalition recently sent 120 faxes out, to each senator and 2 Assemblypersons, asking them to check mark off how they would vote, and return it to us. Several of them have, mostly our co-sponsors so far, but a few of them have weighed in saying they would vote yes. We're (persistently contacting) the folks who have not responded, but if MANY callers to their office next Tuesday were to ask where they stand, it could make a big impression.

I would encourage everyone on the loop here to be asking folks who are not our sponsors, when making these calls, as we head into the elections for the whole NJ Assembly in just 10 days, indeed- just where do they stand?

Also got feedback that our handwritten letters from the Letter Writing Kits are really impactful, that every one of those get read, because they know constituents take the time to not just cut & paste a form letter, or dash off a postcard. Our grassroots effort IS working! If anyone wants to make up some letter writing kits of your own or your group, all the materials can be downloaded, just under the pink box, from our website at: http://njvaccinechoice.org/homework.html#docs "
